International 100km athletes Helena Crossan and Marty Rea had excellent performances when stepping down to the marathon distance at the Dublin Marathon on 26 October 2009.
The Dublin Marathon doubles as the Irish National Marathon Championships and Helena finished 6th in the women's division while Marty finished 10th in the men's.
Although noted for their high performances over 100km (62.1 miles), both athletes showed they also have speed in their legs. Helena recorded a time of 2:55:02 and Marty set a marathon PB of 2:35:18.
