Thomas Maguire, the Irish 100km record holder and reigning Irish champion, raised thousands of pounds for charity when he ran a 100km event on June 6th.
Thomas signed up to contest the annual Enniskillen Rotary 10k, but opted to run 10 laps of the route instead of one. Inspired by his 11-year-old son Daniel, who has autism, Thomas wanted to raise funds for the Fermanagh Branch of Autism Northern Ireland.
Starting just after 06:00, he ran at a brisk pace to complete the 100km (62.1 miles) in just over 8 hours. It was a remarkable "training session" given the cool temperatures, a strong north easterly wind and a course with some substantial climbs.
The money he raised through sponsorship cards will help improve autistic children's social skills and also increased autism awareness within the county.
