Keith 11th at World Trail Champs

Eoin Keith continued his amazing year when finishing 11th at the second IAU World Trail Championships on 12 July 2009. The race took place in Serre Chevalier in the French Alps.

The 68km course was extremely challenging and encompassed three major peaks of 2679m (Sommet du Galiber), 2895m (Col des Beraudes) and 2427m (Col de Buffere).

The men's race was won by Thomas Lorblanchet (FRA) in 6:38:18. He was followed by Dachhiri Sherpa (NEP) in second place with Matthias Dippacher (GER) taking the bronze medal.

In the past ten months, Keith has established new Irish track and road records at both 100 miles and 24 hours; he has run a PB at the shorter 100km distance; he has finished fourth in Europe and fifth in the World at 24 hours; he has set a new record for the Wicklow Round; and won several mountain running events in Ireland.
